The Administrator General Zakat has officially announced the Nisab of Zakat in Pakistan for the Zakat year 1445-46 AH. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety, the Nisab has been set at Rs. 179,689.
Zakat Deduction Policy for 2025
As per the official notification:
- No Zakat will be deducted from accounts that have a balance below Rs. 179,689 on the first day of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak, 1446 AH.
- The deduction date for Zakat is expected to fall on March 1st or 2nd, 2025, depending on moon sighting.
- Zakat deductions will apply to Savings Accounts, Profit and Loss Sharing Accounts, and other similar accounts.
Zakat Collection and Compliance
All Zakat Collection & Controlling Agencies (ZCCAs) have been instructed to deduct Zakat accordingly. After deduction, a copy of Form CZ-08 (A&B) must be submitted to the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety and the amount should be deposited into Central Zakat Account No. CZ-08 maintained with the State Bank of Pakistan.
Who is Exempt from Zakat Deduction?
Zakat will not be deducted from:
- Accounts with balances below Rs. 179,689.
- Customers who have submitted a valid Zakat exemption certificate.
Increase in Nisab for 2025
The Nisab of Zakat has seen an increase compared to the previous year’s threshold of Rs. 135,179. This adjustment reflects changes in economic conditions and inflation rates.
