Punjab Declares Public Holiday on May 1 for Labour Day
In a recent announcement, the Punjab government confirmed that Thursday, May 1, will be a public holiday in honor of International Labour Day.
Labour Day, celebrated globally every year on May 1, is dedicated to recognizing the hard work and sacrifices of workers. Like many other nations, Pakistan will join in marking the occasion with a nationwide holiday.
In Punjab, all government offices, hospitals, secretariats, district departments, and both public and private educational institutions will be closed for the day.
This decision follows the Sindh government’s earlier announcement, which had already declared May 1 a public holiday throughout the province.
Labour Day commemorates the historic workers’ rights movement that originated in Chicago and is now honored worldwide.
