New NADRA Centers in Karachi to Offer 24/7 Passport Services

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has recently launched two mega centers in Karachi that now offer 24/7 passport services. These new facilities, located at Siemens Chowrangi and North Nazimabad, are set to revolutionize the passport application process in Pakistan, making it easier for citizens to apply for new passports or renew existing ones, anytime, day or night.

24/7 Passport Services for Citizens

The NADRA mega centers Karachi are fully equipped with five dedicated counters specifically for passport services. These counters include three for processing passport applications, one for passport distribution, and one for granting approvals. Citizens can visit these centers at any time to complete their passport-related tasks. Even though the official opening ceremony is set to take place next week, the counters are already fully operational and assisting the public.

Clearing the Passport Backlog in Pakistan

In a major step forward, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, the Director General (DG) of Passports, announced that the passport backlog in Pakistan has been cleared. During an unannounced visit to the passport production unit, he noted that since July 1, 2024, over 3.37 million passports had been printed. This includes:

  • 776,451 passports issued under the normal category.
  • 1,896,403 passports printed under the urgent category.
  • 703,656 passports issued via the fast-track service.

The DG commended the efforts of the passport production team, whose dedication ensured the smooth processing of passports, helping clear the significant backlog.

How to Collect Passports in Pakistan

One of the most significant improvements with the new NADRA centers in Karachi is the streamlined passport collection process. Citizens no longer need to wait for notifications via message or email to collect their passports. They are now encouraged to visit the regional passport offices directly to pick up their documents. This expedited process aims to reduce delays and ensure that applicants receive their passports promptly.

New NADRA Centers Location

In addition to the mega centers at Siemens Chowrangi and North Nazimabad, new NADRA centers are being established across Karachi. These centers are part of NADRA’s ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and efficiency in passport services. The NADRA passport counters Siemens Chowrangi have already begun to serve a large number of applicants, offering quicker and more efficient services.
