NADRA Refutes Rumors: B-Form System Remains Intact with Enhanced Security Feature

NADRA has dismissed rumors about discontinuing the Child Registration Certificate (B-Form). Instead, starting January 15, 2025, enhanced security features, including photographs and fingerprints for children aged 10-18, have been introduced. Learn about the updated B-Form procedure and its impact on passport applications.

NADRA Confirms B-Form System Is Still Active

Recent speculations suggested that the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had stopped issuing Child Registration Certificates (B-Forms). However, NADRA has officially clarified that the B-Form system remains operational. The only modification applies to children aged 10 and above, who now require a new B-Form with a photograph and fingerprints for passport applications.

Enhanced Security Measures for B-Forms

To strengthen identity verification and prevent fraud, NADRA, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, has implemented new security features in the B-Form, effective January 15, 2025. These enhancements aim to:

  • Prevent identity theft and misuse of children’s data.
  • Curb fake identity card creation and illegal passport issuance.
  • Combat human trafficking and related crimes.

New Requirements for Children Aged 10-18

Children aged 10 to 18 must now obtain an updated B-Form featuring:

A recent photograph
Fingerprint authentication

This biometric information ensures greater security and aligns with global identification standards.

How to Obtain the New B-Form?

To apply for the updated B-Form, parents or legal guardians must:

1️⃣ Visit the nearest NADRA Registration Center (NRC).
2️⃣ Provide their own CNIC and the child’s computerized birth certificate issued by the Union Council or Town Committee.
3️⃣ Complete biometric verification at the NRC.
4️⃣ Receive the new B-Form featuring the child’s photograph and fingerprints.

New B-Form Requirement for Passport Applications

For children aged 10 to 18 applying for passports, the new B-Form with biometric data is now mandatory. The old B-Form, which lacked these security features, will no longer be accepted for passport processing.

NADRA has reaffirmed that the B-Form system remains unchanged but has been enhanced for security purposes. Parents must ensure they obtain the new biometric B-Form for their children aged 10 and above, especially if they plan to apply for a passport. This step is essential for ensuring secure identity verification and protecting children’s personal data from misuse.
