Introduction of New B Form for Children Over 10 Years Old in Pakistan

The Pakistani government has decided to introduce a new Birth Form (Registration Certificate) for children aged 10 and above, which will be equipped with advanced security features. This initiative aims to enhance the protection of children’s identification information and prevent its misuse.

Features of the New Birth Form:

  • Security Features: The new Birth Form will include children’s fingerprints and photographs, ensuring the security of their identification details.
  • Phased Implementation: The issuance of this special Birth Form will begin in phases starting from January 15.
  • Presence of Parents or Legal Guardians: The presence of at least one parent or legal guardian of the child at the NADRA center will be required. They must bring their computerized national identity card and the child’s computerized birth certificate.

Government Statement:

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that these measures will help prevent the theft and misuse of children’s identification information. These steps will also help curb the issuance of fake identity cards, illegal passports, and human trafficking.

Next Steps:

Further reforms will be introduced in upcoming phases, including facilities for iris scanning, fingerprinting, and photographs at Union Council offices. Additionally, efforts will be made to integrate NADRA’s identity system with provincial civil registration management systems.

The introduction of the new Birth Form will significantly improve the security of children’s identification information and help prevent various criminal activities. Parents and legal guardians will need to visit NADRA centers with the required documents to obtain the new Birth Form for their children.
